Issue Two Advertising

Mr Pendragon (Issue 1)

A close second behind We are United was The Sinister World of Mr Pendragon, a strip that would last for the whole Champ run. Mr Pendragon was a kind of supernatural policeman, always there to help and in some cases to late to help. As each story was different each week it stayed fresh and to my memory was the 1st strip of its kind in any DCT paper. In issue one we were introduced to..........

Jimmy liked to play games with the supernatural, and he would have another opportunity soon on a family holiday....

The boys found some further information on the ghost and Jimmy hatched his next hoax.

But Jimmy was to be visited as the joke took a different turn.

Enter Mr Pendragon......

Unfortunately Mr Pendragon cannot save everyone and events would take a dramatic turn...

Mikes Millions (Issue 1)

Mike Sadler was one of DCT down trodden characters seen in many strips, his parents had died and was now living with his bully Uncle Fred. Normally he would of gone on to be a star footballer, but Mike was destined to become the owner of a multi million pound company.

He had befriended the owner, who left the company to mike....

Making his first appearance at a board meeting, not everyone on the board was happy.

Especially Mr Luther....

Luther was greedy and was already plotting Mikes downfall, but as he would learn Mike was very resourceful...

Kids Rule OK (Issue 1)

Kids Rule OK was very much a Grange Hill type story, I think this was only the second time DCT had ventured into this area, the other being The Bleak Street Bunch in Spike. We were introduced to the regular gang who were....

The story revolved around the closure & demolition of Kingsway school. The news was broken to the kids in a special assembly.

Unfortunately for one of the kids Nick Colson he was hiding a terrible secret from his friends, his Dad was the developer...

After losing a football match to one of the schools the kids would go to, tension was high until trouble maker Junkyard came out with a good idea.......

We are United (Issue 1)

Money problems, a relegation from the top division, you could be fooled into thinking the first story line for We are United was based on any number of football clubs from today's modern game it is certainly more common now than back in 1984. Below is the last ten year history of United football club right up to 1984 were they are struggling for promotion from the 2nd Division under the management of John Bland.

Before United's next game manager John Bland is summoned to the board room....the news is not great......

So United next game was against Albion where United best chance fell to Klaus Bergen who shot.....

In the end Albion took their best chance and the score ended with a 1-0 defeat for United. John Bland issued Joe Pearson with the list of player casualties & one by one the names were read out....

There would be a twist as a smug John Bland settled in the boardroom there would be one more casualty....

As Joe Pearson left The Mill for what he thought was the last time, he was called back to be given great news...
